Planning a home dialysis schedule

A good schedule is one you can actually keep — built around work, family, prayer times and sleep, not imposed on top of them.

What to know

  • Fix your sessions to the same days and times each week; consistency makes adherence far easier.
  • Leave a buffer either side — setup and disinfection add time beyond the treatment itself.
  • Plan for missed sessions in advance: know the make-up rules your nephrologist wants you to follow.
  • Tell your care partner the schedule too. It is their calendar as much as yours.

Talk to your care team

This topic is part of Getting Started with Home Hemodialysis, one of ten modules in the Trivita Learning Hub. If anything here contradicts what your own nephrologist or dialysis nurse has told you, follow your care team — they know your prescription, your access and your history.

Trivita's dialysis nurses answer our care line 24 hours a day on 055 242 1070, including for people who are not yet our patients.

Education, not medical advice. This page explains home hemodialysis in general terms for patients and care partners in the UAE.
