Beyond the machine itself, a home dialysis session depends on a consistent set of consumables that must be in date, sterile and correctly stored.
What to know
- Dialyser, bloodlines, needles or catheter caps, and the dialysate concentrate or cartridges.
- Syringes, saline, heparin (if prescribed), antiseptic, gauze, tape and clamps.
- Disinfectant for the machine and, where fitted, the water treatment system.
- Sharps container, waste bags, blood pressure monitor and scales.
- Trivita supplies and installs the machine, the portable RO water system and the consumables, keeps them serviced, and leaves the equipment in place for as long as treatment continues.
- Expiry dates and packaging integrity are checked before every session as part of the nurse's setup routine.
