Disposal of dialysis waste

Home dialysis produces clinical waste, and it must be segregated and collected properly — not put in household rubbish.

What to know

  • Sharps go straight into an approved sharps container at the point of use, never re-sheathed.
  • Blood-contaminated lines, dialysers and dressings go into clinical waste bags.
  • Seal sharps containers at the fill line and never overfill them.
  • Trivita arranges scheduled clinical waste collection as part of your service.
