Disinfection and sterilisation procedures

Disinfection after every session prevents biofilm forming inside the machine's fluid pathway, which is the main long-term infection risk in home dialysis.

What to know

  • Run the machine's disinfection cycle after every treatment, without exception.
  • Use only the disinfectant and concentration specified for your machine.
  • Heat disinfection, chemical disinfection or both — follow your machine's documented schedule.
  • Confirm the rinse cycle completes and residual disinfectant tests negative before the next session.
  • Wipe down external surfaces, the chair and the trolley with a surface disinfectant.
