Monthly bloods are how your prescription gets adjusted — without them, changes would be guesswork.
What to know
- Standard monthly panel: urea, creatinine, electrolytes, calcium, phosphate, PTH, haemoglobin and iron studies.
- Adequacy measures such as Kt/V are calculated from timed pre and post-session samples.
- Sample timing matters — a post-dialysis sample taken incorrectly gives a misleading result.
- Never skip monthly bloods because you feel well; the abnormalities that matter most are silent.
