What to know
- Check responsiveness and breathing, call emergency services, then start chest compressions.
- Compress the centre of the chest hard and fast, allowing full recoil between compressions.
- If the patient is connected to the machine, stop the pump and clamp lines before starting compressions.
- Use an AED as soon as one is available.
