What to know
- Stop the blood pump immediately and clamp the lines.
- Apply firm direct pressure to the bleeding site.
- Call emergency services if bleeding is not controlled quickly.
- Secure needles properly at every session and keep the access site visible, never covered by a blanket.
- A moisture sensor is strongly recommended for nocturnal dialysis.
