Eligibility depends on your medical stability, your vascular access, a suitable home environment, and a willing trained partner — not on age or how long you have been on dialysis.
What to know
- You need a reliable vascular access — usually a fistula or graft, sometimes a catheter.
- Your home needs space for the machine and supplies, a suitable water supply, and adequate electrical capacity.
- Self-care programmes normally require a care partner. With Trivita there is no such requirement — a dialysis nurse performs the sessions.
- Medical conditions that make home dialysis unsuitable are uncommon; your nephrologist will assess yours specifically.
- Poor eyesight, limited dexterity or anxiety about needling are all workable with the right support — raise them rather than ruling yourself out.
